Levitate Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced US Tax Manager to join a leading professional services firm in the Caribbean Cayman Islands. The Team:

The Tax Services team in the Cayman Islands works with their clients to minimize their tax liabilities and ensure their organisation complies with local, federal and international tax law.  The Cayman Islands are a tax-free domicile; however, the clients are offshore companies, operating around the world.  The firm offer a fresh look at their client’s tax position with an eye towards broader business objectives.  You will work closely with your clients to understand the organisation’s global goals and strategies and how industry and economic trends can affect their business.  The firm provides a wide range of tax planning and compliance assistance to hedge funds, captive insurance companies and individuals.  They also develop tax strategies that work and help streamline compliance processes.

The Role:

As a tax manager, you will coordinate and ensure that team members provide superior consultative tax advice and impeccable guidance, in order to help clients achieve real tax savings.  You will be responsible for providing tax compliance and consulting services for a range of investment, hedge fund and insurance companies and act as a reviewer of your team member’s work. Acting as a trusted business advisor, you will build strong client relationships by providing valued tax advice.  As a tax manager, you have responsibility for the development and motivation of team members and provide them with leadership, counselling and career guidance.

The Firm is NASBA-accredited, making it easier to maintain your professional accounting designation if applicable.

The Opportunity:

You will receive a highly competitive annual base salary and a full range of benefits including a relocation package and 4 weeks annual paid leave. No Cayman Islands taxation will be imposed on the earnings while working in the Cayman Islands. In addition, successful candidates will also experience the enhanced lifestyle offered by the Cayman Islands.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
  • Internationally recognised professional accounting qualification or Master’s degree in U.S. taxation (M.S.T.), U.S. Law degree (J.D.) and/or L.L.M. in U.S. taxation is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ practical experience in a public practice firm and/or relevant asset management industry experience.  Supervisory experience is particularly desirable.
  • Exposure to and understanding of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and partnership and international tax is required.
  • Experience in assisting with the development of new business is strongly preferred.
